We are excited to build on the past Clean the Queen successes and make this third year the best yet!
Join us to make our city and our environment better during Earth Week April 15th – 20th! Envision Charlotte will have a week-long series of volunteer events followed by a celebration on the 20th from 1-5 pm so invite all of your participants to join us! We will also have several contests where the winners will be announced at the celebration on the 20th.
This is becoming such a popular event and we want to make sure everyone who wants to participate gets the opportunity! With that being said as we learned in the past we have had some groups sign up for more slots than they needed which kept other groups from participating. So please err on the side of less rather than more. If you have a few extra people who want to participate the day of, that is easier to accommodate than holding spots for people who don’t come.
We are using our website Google Calendar again this year so people can see up-to-date information on which spots are available. If the spot says FULL, then someone else has already secured it. Take a look at the calendar and email erica@envisioncharlotte.org to let us know which spots you would like to secure.
Each shift is for a group of 10 volunteers and shifts are available Monday-Friday. The first shift is 10-12:30 and the second shift is 1:30-4. The link to the calendar is HERE. Individuals wanting to sign up on their own can email erica@envisioncharlotte.org and let us know which shifts they want to volunteer for and we will add you to one of the groups.
Contests:
- Most volunteers from one company
- Most amount of litter picked up from one company (number of full garbage bags)
- Most sound panels made by one company
Bingo Winners – bingo cards will be available that week and for each “bingo” participants are entered into a drawing for prizes!
Our coffee shop partner Change Please Coffee will be open if anyone wants to grab a drink or snack. We have parking in front of the building, behind the building, and along the street on Otts St. but we ask people to carpool when possible. There are bathrooms on site as well as a water fountain and refillable water bottle station so please remember to bring your refillable water bottle.
Everyone will gather at the Innovation Barn (932 Seigle Ave. Charlotte, NC 28205) at the start time of your shift (10 am or 1:30 pm) to get instructions and maps of the litter pick-up location from Charlotte Solid Waste Services and gear provided by Keep Charlotte Beautiful (vests, gloves, pickers, bags). Teams will leave the Barn in their cars to pick up litter and return their gear to the Barn once their shift is over. Those who are making sound panels will stay at the Barn for their shift.
We appreciate you volunteering with us this year!
